Job Responsibilities

The Accountant will serve as an integral member of the Accounting team with responsibilities including, but not limited to, the following: 

  • Perform day to day maintenance of the general ledger and related sub-ledgers.
  • Perform account reconciliations and analysis to support the accuracy of the general ledger and related sub-ledgers.
  • Conduct month-end close procedures including preparing journal entries related to transactions in assigned areas necessary for the accurate reporting of the Company’s general ledger.
  • Conduct cash management activities including daily cash analysis, forecasting and reconciliations.
  • Evaluate general and administrative costs and participate in preparing budgets.
  • Prepare reports for government agencies including 1099’s and Census Bureau filings.
  • Prepare well payout statements.
  • Prepare monthly Joint Interest Billing transactions.
  • Assists in the external and internal audit process by preparing schedules and analyses while addressing questions that arise during company audit.
  • Crosstrain in additional corporate functions including depreciation and depletion calculations, full cost reporting and ceiling tests.
  • Prepare internal control testing documentation in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual note disclosures for 10Q/10K filing.
  • Participate in Quorum software testing as needed.
  • Maintain process documentation.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Comply with Seneca’s EHSQ policies, standards and procedures and demonstrate active and regular involvement in EHSQ programs.

Job Qualifications

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related discipline. 
  • Candidates with a CPA and experience in oil & gas are preferred.
  • Quorum software experience is a plus.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (Xlookups, Pivot Tables, IF statements, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience with Sarbanes-Oxley is a plus.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills and attention to detail is essential.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

The successful candidate must be authorized to work in United States of America.
